Celexa Does Works...

Celexa (Chemical Name: Citalopram) typically comes as a tablet to be taken orally once a day, and can be taken with or without food. While many people feel some immediate relief from the symptoms of depression, it may take several weeks before you feel the full benefit of CELEXA.

 

Before taking CELEXA, advise your doctor of any medical conditions you have or have had, especially drug allergies, difficulty urinating, an enlarged prostate, glaucoma, overactive thyroid gland, seizures, or liver, kidney or heart disease, and if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding.

 

Because some medications can interact with CELEXA, inform your doctor of any prescription and nonprescription drugs that you are taking, especially anticoagulants; other antidepressants; antihistamines; carbamazepine; cimetidine; estrogens; fluoxetine; itraconazole; ketoconazole; levodopa; lithium; metoprolol; medications for high blood pressure, seizures, Parkinson's disease, diabetes, asthma, colds, or allergies; medications to treat infection; methylphenidate; muscle relaxants; oral contraceptives; sedatives; sleeping pills; thyroid medications; tranquilizers; and vitamins.

 

Cigarette smoking may alter the effectiveness of this drug. If you have surgery, including dental surgery, tell your doctor that you are taking CELEXA.

 

Common side effects may include drowsiness; changes in appetite or weight; difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep; dry mouth; excitement; nightmares; upset stomach; weakness, tiredness, or anxiety; and increased skin sensitivity to sunlight. Because this drug can cause drowsiness, use caution when driving a car, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities until you know how you react to this drug. Alcohol can increase feelings of drowsiness.

 

Talk to your doctor if any of the following symptoms are severe or persistent: blurred vision, changes in sex drive or ability, constipation, difficulty urinating, or frequent urination. If you experience any of the following more serious symptoms, call you doctor immediately: difficulty breathing or swallowing; fever; jaw, neck and back muscle spasms; persistent fine tremor or inability to sit still; slow or difficult speech; shuffling walk; severe skin rash; yellowing of the skin or eyes; or irregular heartbeat.
